Its officially hurricane season! Be sure to check out last nights blog where I explain the tropics page of the website.
Models continue to show something developing near the Yucatan and then heading towards Florida, during the middle of next week. Below I have mapped out what I think will happen and the timing of it.
Its too early to say whether a tropical storm will form, but there is decent model support. Almost all of the major models show some type of tropical system hitting Florida next week. Most of the models show a weak tropical storm or tropical depression, but some try to strengthen it to a point where wind and surge could be an issue. One thing the models can agree on is it looks like Florida could be looking at a long-lasting deluge of rain.
The weather still looks pretty quite here in the NYC area. However, there could be some severe weather Sunday. I'll have more information on this tomorrow and possibly a graphic if the threat holds or increases.
