The storm today was a bit of bust. However, we have another chance for snow Thursday, and yet another over the weekend.
On Thursday a clipper system will drop in from Canada. From this part of the storm I expect 1-3 inches for the entire forecast area. Next Thursday night that storm will transfer into a coastal low. Below are my preliminary snowfall predictions.
Northern New Jersey, Central New Jersey, Orange, Rockland, Putnam, Bronx, Westchester, Manhattan, Staten Island and Bronx counties - 2-4 inches
Brooklyn, Queens, Fairfield and Nassau counties - 4-8 inches
Suffolk County - 8-12 inches
Please note that these are just my thoughts and it is too early to really know how much snow is going to fall. We have another chance for a snowstorm over the weekend. Once again it looks like the higher snow totals will be in the far eastern areas of the coverage area. On the day after Valentines day it is going to get extremely cold with high temperatures in the single digits and low temperatures below zero. If you think this winter is bad at least we didn't just double our 7 day snow record like Boston just did!
