A hot weak is ahead but will the heat break? And whats in store for this upcoming Fall and Winter?
Today was a hot one with most areas hitting the mid to upper 90s. A few lucky areas even hit 100 degrees. Tomorrow will be a bit cooler with a high of around 90 in the city. Starting tomorrow morning hit or miss thunderstorms and showers will begin to fire up. This will continue until the evening when the storms will become more widespread. Most likely a line of storms will set up with the potential of the storms being severe.
The rest of the week will be quite steamy but as we move into August I expect things to cool down significantly. Like really cool. I'm talking 50's and 60's. Also just outside of the coverage area 40's are likely. In August!
So whats ahead for this fall? My official fall forecast will come out at the end of August along with my preliminary winter outlook. For September I'm thinking that it will be fairly similar to this upcoming August (dry and below average temperatures). October and November is where it gets tricky. There is a fairly likely potential that the upcoming November will be have above average temperatures.

While this winter will likely be have a strong el nino I don't expect it to be even close to the record year 1997-1998. But some of the predictions that the el nino will crush the record are just not true.
While I can't predict anything like temperatures and snowfall yet I can tell you that I think this winter will be similar to the 2002-2003 and 2009-2010 winters. Which were both very snowy...
