The heaviest band of rain is currently moving through the northern parts of the coverage area. Over the next couple hours the heavy steady rain should switch to showers and then another band of heavy steady rain will enter the area between 8 and 9 PM.
The rain should finally start to slow down around 10 PM tonight and things should clear out by tomorrow morning except for a few showers.
I expect the lowest rain totals to be in central New Jersey with as little as a half an inch of rain and the highest totals to be on Long Island and northern areas with as much as 3 inches of rain.
Winds on the south shore of Long Island have frequently been gusting between 30 and 40 miles per hour. On the south shore winds have even gusted to 50 miles per hour.
Friday should be nice with highs in the mid 50s. Here is the trick or treat forecast for Halloween.
Sunday will be another nice day and then things could warm up next workweek. I'll have more on the warm-up in tomorrows discussion.
